Gas fitter measures up as a beauty contestant

UNIVERSITY graduate, curling champ – now Eve Ferrier is hoping to top it all later this month by becoming Miss Intercontinental, second only to Miss World in the beauty pageant arena.
But despite the glamour of the catwalk, 21 year-old Eve’s heart lies in her job – as a central heating engineer in Hamilton!
Eve, who lives in Whins of Milton, says it’s her dream job and is urging other girls to do the same.
After obtaining a Marketing degree from Stirling University and entering a job in sales, former Gargunnock girl Eve quickly realised that a desk job was not for her: “I’d wanted to have a trade from when I left school and I realised that I was still young enough to apply for gas fitting,” she said.
“Girls aren’t given the correct information about engineering courses and apprenticeships and I feel that so many girls are missing out on such a great opportunity!”
More promotion in schools is the answer, she believes: “So many people start university with no idea what they want to do and are between 23 and 26 by the time they finish university and there are very, very few companies who will take on apprentices at that age.”
Eve undertook a year’s intense training in Glasgow, where she was the only female, and says it was harder than the three years she spent at Stirling University.
She agrees that it is a male-dominated industry but insists that being a woman has its advantages: “Older customers are more comfortable around me and I've been told that females do a better clean up job after boiler work! Plus I'm small, which makes getting under the floorboards easier.”
Eve’s love for her job is clear: “I feel like I’m doing something useful and meaningful and I have so many career opportunities now. I hope more females get involved in engineering as it’s a fantastic career and a very rewarding job!”
She has already had a taste of the high life as a former Scottish national curling squad member which reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Junior Women’s Championships and as a Highland dance champion.
On the modelling front, she reached the Grand Final of The MCN (Motorcycle News) Babes competition, making the last five and is now a member of the MCN Babe Squad.
Now she hopes to become Miss Intercontinental after qualifying for the UK final in London on September 26.
She will join another 30 finalists from all over the UK with the winner heading to the Seychelles to represent the UK at the world final!
As well as a pageant winner, there is also a text vote winner for charity and Eve’s choice is “Children with Leukaemia”.
Not sure if there will be much pornage here mate.
